Custom fitting has become a cornerstone of modern golf coaching and is widely accepted as essential for enhancing player performance and satisfaction. However, as with any established practice, there are assumptions and conventions that often go unchallenged. This two-hour online seminar invites PGA professionals, club fitters, and coaches to critically examine the prevailing methods and beliefs that underpin traditional custom fitting procedures.
While custom fitting has advanced significantly in recent years, many approaches still rely heavily on static measurements, linear thinking, or equipment-centric solutions that may not fully reflect the dynamic and highly individual nature of player performance. In this session, we will explore how these limitations can affect decision-making and lead to sub-optimal outcomes for players.
Through a thought-provoking exploration of current and traditional practices, we will highlight:
The common pitfalls in interpreting launch monitor data and how context is often overlooked.
How fitting methodologies may fail to consider player variability, intention, or adaptation.
The risks of over-relying on manufacturer fitting systems and preset recommendations.
Why aligning equipment changes with broader coaching and performance objectives is essential.
Attendees will be encouraged to reflect on their own fitting practices and consider new perspectives that integrate technical data with a deeper understanding of player behavior, needs, and performance goals.
This seminar will offer:
A critical lens on conventional fitting processes.
Insight into more holistic, player-focused fitting approaches.
Practical considerations to enhance your own methods and better support your clients.
Whether you work primarily in coaching, retail, or performance support, this session will help evolve your professional thinking and provide a platform for developing more tailored, effective solutions for the golfers you work with.
This seminar is free to attend and open to all PGA professionals, coaches, and fitters interested in advancing their understanding of custom fitting practices.
PGA Members are encouraged to record their participation in their CPD journal as part of their ongoing professional development. A certificate of attendance can be provided upon request to support CPD entries.
